OEDB
OEDBeam

OED Beam deployed.

The Orbital Elemental Deconstruction Beam (OEDB for short, alternatively OED Beacon) is a special offensive item.

Description[]

The OEDB is summoned through an OED Beacon - a small, can-like device. The Beacon requires deployment at the exact spot where the beam needs to strike. Upon placing the Beacon, after a moment of delay the Beam comes from the sky and hits the designated ground zero - engulfing the area in a stream of destructive, blueish energy. The Beam has a huge damage radius - although thankfully it is safe to yourself, so it may be used as a desperation attack even when you are out of room to retreat. The Beams' damage output is extremely high, and is enough to one-shot even Asmodae.

The Beacon takes 6 seconds to charge the beam at the drop place. After that, the beam will constantly damage everything in that spot for 13 seconds, while pulling enemies towards itself. It ignores ceilings, so the Beacon may be deployed indoors without risk of failure.

To put it short, the OEDB is a sealed room wipeout in a can. Save it for the most difficult fights that you would rather skip altogether.

The OED Beacon can be rarely found on the maps, and also it can be acquired by gathering 30 Impressive Medals. Only one Beacon can be carried at a time.

Hints[]

  • WARNING: The Beacon will short-circuit if thrown into water (even shallow) and fail to deploy. Do not throw it near liquid floors!
  • Keep in mind that since you can carry only a single Beacon, the one that is awarded through 30th Impressive Medals will not be granted to you if there is already a Beacon in your inventory (even though the Medal counter will reset). To prevent this, use or drop the old Beacon in anticipation of the Medal-awarded Beacon.
  • The Tamers of The Dark only take 5% of the damage the Beam does, making this item pretty useless against them.

Trivia[]

  1. The OED Beacon model is based upon the Hand Grenade weapon from Doom 3.
