The Pain Elemental's spawn, the Forgotten One is a lesser form of the Lost Soul, a juvenile variant.

Tactics and Behavior[]

The Forgotten Ones can only appear by being spawned by a Pain Elemental. They serve as the main means of attack of their parent monster. Appearing as hellish, ablaze skulls, they are even faster than the Lost Souls, flying through the battlefields at dazzling speeds. In turn, however, their charge attack damage is minimal, and they are even weaker than the Lost Souls.

Although getting swarmed by a pack of these seems to be a scary prospect, in reality the Forgotten Ones are weak enough to die quickly to just about any weapon. The Heavy Machine Gun is probably the best weapon to counter them, dispensing a large volume of hitscan attacks that defeat the fiery skull's speed easily. You do not need to waste anything more valuable than Bullets on them, so in the case your HMG runs dry, just use any weapon with the most plentiful ammo (oftentimes, the Shotgun), or you may just as well save ammo and cut them down with the Gauntlet.

When killed, a Forgotten One does not provide Ability or Ultimate charge, and will not drop Armor Pieces if killed with the Gauntlet.

Vehicle Tactics[]

The same case as with the Pain Elemental, the Forgotten Ones are a bottom-level threat to the vehicles.

Lore[]

Those were former tortured souls in hell in which a Pain Elemental use its direct link with Hell to spit them from their mouth. These creatures eventually evolve into a Lost Soul the more time it stays outside Hell.

Due to their juvenile phase, they are yet incapable of possessing mortal beings unlike their evolved counterparts, serving only as a swarming mechanism used by the Pain Elementals.

Trivia[]

  1. The Forgotten One's model is taken straight from the Doom 3 expansion: Resurrection of Evil.
